Dr. Gustavo Santiso-Quinones is a chemist and crystallographer with over two decades of experience spanning academic research, advanced instrumentation, and industrial applications. He is a co-founder of Crystallise! AG, a leading provider of crystallization and structural characterization services for small molecules, with a remarkable 85–90% success rate in crystallization and over 200 solved structures, primarily for the pharmaceutical industry.
In 2019, he co-founded ELDICO Scientific AG, where he played a central role in the development of the world’s first dedicated electron diffractometer, enabling routine structure elucidation of nano-sized crystals. The work and scientific publication that led to this was recognized by Science magazine as a contender for “Breakthrough of the Year 2018” and has since empowered over 300 successful electron diffraction-based structure determinations, especially in pharma and agrochemical research.
Dr. Santiso-Quinones’ work is at the forefront of 3D ED/microED adoption, with a focus on accelerating polymorph screening, solving metastable forms, impurity identification, finding crystallinity in amorphous forms and supporting IP protection. He regularly collaborates with major industry players and speaks at international scientific conferences, where he bridges cutting-edge crystallographic technology with real-world application challenges.
